Turns out sex selection *is* illegal in India
According to this article from BBC News, a physician and his assistant were arrested following a government sting operation designed to catch physicians who would assist women in identifying, and then aborting, famale fetuses. Although the practice has been outlawed for 12 years, this is the first time the government has prosecuted offenders.
