An article in the April 1 Proceedings of the National Academies of Sciences (abstract) suggests--based on analysis of data from the 2000 Census--that prenatal testing and abortion (as well as, potentially, preimplantation screening) are being used to deliver more male babies to Asian families in the United States. In india poor people put new born girls out to die, but middle class people are far to civilized they have a sex test and an abortion if it is a girl.
